This is an exciting opportunity to work for one of the top law firms in the U.S.  Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join our team in Seattle. This position will manage the attorney and staff leave administration process firm-wide.  This position will also maintain, update, and audit all staff job descriptions and partner with managers to complete job analysis for new and existing employees.  Additionally, this position will conduct staff exit interviews and provide support on HR-related projects, initiatives, and communications as assigned by the Senior HR Manager.

Your contribution includes: 
  • Managing firm-wide attorney and staff leave administration processes consistent with firm policies and in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including the following.
    • Tracking and processing of all staff and attorney leaves using leave administration software
    • Providing required paperwork and maintaining consistent record of all leave documentation
    • Processing notifications related to leaves to various firm departments and individuals
    • Partnering with Payroll and Benefits team, as well as state/local entities, to coordinate pay and benefits during leaves of absence
    • Providing ongoing and consistent communication with employees and managers about leave parameters
    • Regularly reviewing and updating leave-related policies and procedures to ensure continued compliance with all applicable laws and regulations; draft and process leave-related communications to employees and managers as needed
  • Maintaining, updating, and auditing all staff job descriptions on an annual basis, including review of physical requirements, FLSA status, and essential job functions and responsibilities
  • Partnering with managers to complete job analysis for new and existing positions and create new job descriptions as needed
  • Partnering with Staff Recruiting to ensure compliance on job postings
  • Conducting staff exit interviews firm-wide; regularly review exit interview process; analyze employee responses and report results, issues, and recommended changes as needed
  • Providing support on HR-related projects, initiatives, and communications, and provide additional assistance to the Sr. HR Manager as assigned
Join us if you have:
  • 4+ years of human resources experience required, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment
  • 2+ years of leave administration experience required, preferably including administration of leave policies across multiple states
  • Experience administering job analysis and FLSA audits preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or in a related field preferred
  • Professional certification preferred (SPHR, PHR, etc.).
  • Thorough working knowledge of all applicable state, local and federal employment laws, especially in regards to leave law administration and disability accommodation
  • Team player with strong written and oral communication skills; acts with a sense of urgency and bias for action
  • Strong interpersonal skills, high-quality judgment and sound decision-making abilities
  • Strong project and time management skills with ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects to closure
  • Self-motivated, detail oriented, and highly organized, with a desire for continuous learning
  • Ability to prioritize and be flexible in a constantly changing work environment
  • Ability to handle highly-sensitive and confidential employee information
  • Technically proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, & PowerPoint
Physical Requirements 
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; and occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
