Davis Wright Tremaine LLP has an exciting, paid opportunity for a 2L Diversity Law Clerk to join the firm’s Healthcare and Tax-Exempt Organizations Practice Group for a remote opportunity for the Spring 2025 term of the student’s academic year.  Davis Wright’s Healthcare and Tax-Exempt Organizations attorneys are located in its Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Portland offices; while not required, ideally, 2L Law Clerk candidates will live close enough to an office to facilitate office visits and in-person meetings with attorneys.  The group expects a commitment of 5 to 15 hours per week. 

The candidate will mainly be responsible for supporting DWT’s Healthcare and Tax-Exempt Organizations Practice Group by writing blog posts and conducting legal research regarding developments in healthcare law.  The Healthcare and Tax-Exempt Organizations Practice Group represents leading hospitals and health systems, clinics, medical groups, foundations, laboratories, pharmacies, scientific and medical research organizations and digital health companies on a range of regulatory, governance and transactional matters.  We deal with cutting edge issues such as privacy, health equity and access, and telemedicine.  We help our clients navigate the ever-changing healthcare regulatory maze, partnering with them to meet their business goals and objectives while understanding and addressing the regulatory risks.  

The candidate will report to the Healthcare Practice Group partners, associates, and practice manager.  We will work with the candidate to accommodate school schedules.

The 2L Healthcare Diversity Law Clerk opportunity is available to all second-year law students who:

  • Commit to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive legal profession; 
  • Are able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines;
  • Have great communication skills and strong research and writing skills;
  • Have a genuine interest in exploring healthcare law (no prior experience in healthcare is necessary);
  • Currently attend an ABA-Accredited law school; and
  • Are able to commit to 5-15 hours of work each week during Spring semester in 2025.

The hourly salary for this position in California, Washington and District of Columbia is $40.00/hour. Law Clerks are eligible to accrue sick leave in accordance with DWT’s Sick & Safe Leave policy.
