Job Description

Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is seeking a full-time contract attorney with trademark prosecution and enforcement experience for engagement through the firm’s flexible and alternative-track attorney program, DWTSurge. This position will be located on-site in the Seattle office. This individual will work with the firm’s Trademark Practice to support prosecution and enforcement matters for DWT clients.

This contract position will be full-time, with an anticipated average of 40 hours of work per week. While the engagement is for an initial 6-month contract term, we anticipate the work to remain relatively steady and there is a possibility of renewal for additional terms for successful candidates.  There is also the potential for conversion to a salaried staff attorney role for candidates who have successfully completed contract terms and meet performance requirements.  We are looking for attorneys interested in an alternative track career, and who seek to establish a long-term arrangement working with DWT on an exclusive basis.

 The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bar admission in Washington State and the ability to work on-site at DWT’s Seattle office
  • A minimum of four years of experience in trademark prosecution and enforcement proceedings before the TTAB
  • Extensive experience drafting opinion letters, managing application filings, responding to office actions, drafting consent agreements and assignments
  • Experience conducting trademark clearance searches and preparing reports
  • Prior law firm experience is preferred
  • Outstanding written and oral advocacy skills
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational abilities, and exceptional time management skills
  • Ability to work with DWT on an exclusive basis
  • Flexibility to potentially increase hours, as needed

Please note that this is a temporary contract position managed by DWT’s flexible contract attorney program, DWTSurge. Compensation will be paid on an hourly basis, commensurate with experience and skill level (see below). Medical benefits will be provided. We are interested in candidates who are electing to pursue a more flexible way of providing continuous, high-value legal services to the firm and our clients. If you are interested in a more traditional law firm position, please check the DWT careers page for lateral opportunities.

 SALARY RANGE:

The hourly range for this position is $90 - $130 per hour. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.

All applications should be submitted via LinkedIn or by sending a resume and cover letter directly to DWTSurge Senior Recruiter, Mariah Watson, at mariahwatson@dwt.com. The DWTSurge Recruiting team will be in touch as we review your application materials.
