This is an exciting opportunity to work for one of the top law firms in the U.S.  Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is seeking a dynamic Major Client Manger to join our team in Seattle.  This position will work directly with the relationship partners for one or more of the firm’s largest clients to manage the firm’s client teams and help the firm provide differentiated service and capitalize on opportunities to strengthen and expand the relationships.

Your contribution to the team includes
  • Working closely and collaboratively with senior lawyers and staff responsible for managing and growing key client relationship(s).
  • Working with lawyers and staff serving the client(s) to meet service expectations or address specific problems or opportunities to enable the firm to provide excellent, differentiated service.
  • Working with relevant legal teams and staff departments, help drive service innovation for the client(s) to deliver service more efficiently, effectively and profitably, including evaluating and developing new service and business process opportunities using technology, process improvement and alternative staffing.
  • Building deep direct relationships with the client(s) legal operations team. 
  • Working with lawyers to identify and respond to opportunities for new work, particularly those that are complex and time-sensitive. 
  • Conducting and analyzing market and business research as well as competitive intelligence to support marketing and business development strategies as they relate to the client(s).
  • Providing input to strategic business development planning, consultation and execution for the client(s).
  • Evaluating financial and other performance indicators and work with the team(s) to respond as needed.
  • Developing deep substantive knowledge of multiple legal practice groups both at the firm and client(s), and collaborate with the practice management teams for those groups.
  • Working with the client team(s) to ensure project milestones are hit.
  • Ensuring compliance with client requirements related to time keeping, rate-setting, billing, conflicts, etc.
  • Identifying and vetting resources for additional support to meet client needs, including staff attorneys, contract lawyers, and support staff.
Join us if you have
  • 7+ years of client management experience and/or professional services business development experience preferred; law firm experience is a plus. 
  • College degree required, emphasis in Marketing, Business Administration or similar field preferred; MBA, JD, or other relevant advanced degree a plus. 
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously is required.
  • Strong writing skills and excellent grammar, spelling and proofreading skills are required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to maintain effective working relationships and communicate verbally and in writing in a professional, courteous manner with clients, firm members, and other business contacts are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide direction and guidance in market plan development efforts - at the individual, practice group and office levels. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented service environment is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex RFP responses is required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of alternative fee arrangements in the service industry (understanding of law firm pricing models and economics a plus) is required.
  • Deep knowledge of relevant legal practice areas and/or industries a plus.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Products required, i.e. Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel; CRM technology a plus.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail and be highly organized and accurate is required.
  • Ability to read and write in English.
