Job Description


This position is responsible for directing the attorney talent acquisition functions, as well as partnering with Practice Group Chairs and other firm leadership to develop and implement effective talent acquisition strategies to ensure the firm’s success in attracting top legal talent in alignment with the direction and goals of the firm’s strategic plan.

On a typical day you will:

  • Partner with each Practice Group Chair and Partner-in-Charge to provide advice and strategically forecast partner and associate talent acquisition needs and to create effective partner succession plans, all in alignment with the direction and goals of the firm’s strategic plan.
  • Research and apply knowledge of the most current and effective talent acquisition mechanisms used in the legal industry to attract and retain top talent.
  • Develop and maintain solid working relationships with and serve as the firm’s primary contact for legal search firms.
  • Establish and maintain recruiting and selection policies and best practices across the organization, which include but are not limited to applicant screening, processing, interviewing, due diligence, selection, presenting offers, hiring and on-boarding processes.
  • Collaborate with the DEI Office on strategies to integrate and align the firm’s commitment to DEI with DWT’s attorney talent acquisition policies and practices
  • Develop and manage annual attorney talent acquisition budgets.
  • Negotiate, review, and approve contracts, retainers, and exclusivity agreements with search firms.
  • Guide and manage efforts to implement new technology, software programs and more efficient talent acquisition processes.
  • Hire, coach, manage and develop talent acquisition team members.
  • Ensure talent acquisition team members are trained in the use of social media, professional organizations and direct leads to help develop pipeline of candidates.
  • Ensure recruiting policies and procedures follow federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Develop and manage collateral talent acquisition materials, including the talent acquisition section of firm's web site.
  • Monitor local and national markets to stay informed of current and projected hiring trends and law firm news.
  • Provide strategic advice to Partners-in-Charge and Practice Group Chairs on hiring needs, as requested.

Join us if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years related experience in managing all aspects of a talent acquisition function, including leadership and management experience, preferably in a law firm or other professional services organization; JD preferred.
  • Ability to effectively communicate the firm's strategic vision and key differentiating points to candidates and search firms
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the use of behavioral interviewing and situational interviewing techniques.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to maintain effective working relationships and communicate verbally and in writing in a professional, courteous manner with clients, firm members, and other business contacts, required.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of talent acquisition database applications required; experience with viGlobal preferred.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products required, i.e., Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Power Point.
  • Demonstrated strong writing skills and have excellent grammar, spelling and proofreading skills, required.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills required.
  • Public relations skills and ability to represent the firm in a professional manner required.
  • Must be motivated, have a high level of initiative and flexibility.
  • Ability to work closely with a diverse group of people in a fast-paced environment required.
