Consumer Arbitrations Contract Attorney
Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is seeking a part-time, mid-level contract attorney with significant consumer arbitration experience to join our alternative-track attorney program, DWTSurge. The ideal candidate will be a litigation attorney with experience in arbitration, dispute resolution, pre-litigation, and all phases of litigation. Candidates should be able to operate with a high level of independence, possess strong client service abilities, and exercise good judgment as part of a highly collaborative team.
Attorneys who are looking for more flexibility in their career and who have four or more years of experience in litigation and arbitration at mid-sized or large law firms are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be well-versed in all stages of the arbitration process, be able to independently handle a high-volume of consumer arbitration matters, and have substantive brief-writing experience. Attorneys who are looking for remote work are encouraged to apply.
The selected resource will provide dedicated support to a high-profile client with minimal risk of diversion to the other litigation needs of the broader practice group. Candidates can expect to work closely with DWT attorneys and staff as part of a collaborative team providing high-value legal services to the firm’s clients. Attorneys who can work independently but also collaborate easily with lawyers and support staff to meet discrete litigation objectives under short deadlines will be successful in this role.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 4+ years of litigation experience, and specifically consumer arbitration experience, in a mid-sized or large law firm and/or with large institutional clients
- Residency and active bar admission in one of the following states: AK, AZ, CA, CT, FL, GA, IL, IN, KS, MD, MN, MT, NJ, NY, OK, OR, PA, TN, TX, VA, WA, and WDC.
- Experience managing and working independently on a high-volume of arbitration matters, without close supervision or instruction
- Experience interfacing directly with large institutional clients
- Availability to work an average of 35 hours per week, remotely
- Strong ability to represent the client and the firm when conferring with various stakeholders and when navigating all necessary steps of the arbitration process
- Excellent legal drafting and communication skills, including oral and written advocacy
- Significant brief-writing experience
The contract engagement is anticipated to be six-months in duration. There is a possibility of extension before or at the end of the initial six-month contract term, and potential for the opportunity to grow into a long-term engagement. We are looking for someone interested in an ongoing, flexible working relationship with DWT.
Please note that this is a temporary contract position managed by DWT’s flexible contract attorney program, DWTSurge. Compensation will be paid on an hourly basis, commensurate with experience and skill level (see below). Due to the reduced schedule for the role, benefits are not offered. We are interested in candidates electing to pursue a more flexible way of providing continuous, high-value legal services to the firm and our clients. If you are interested in a more traditional law firm position, please check the DWT careers page for lateral opportunities.
The hourly range for this position is $90 to $130 per/hour. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
To apply, send your resume and cover letter to DWTSurge Senior Recruiter, Mariah Watson, at firstname.lastname@example.org. We are currently not accepting third party submissions for this opportunity.
We are an AmLaw 100 law firm with ten offices nationwide. We are relentlessly committed to client service and look for candidates who share that commitment.
